New & Exciting Beauty Products for Summer 2014!

Hi guys! It’s Aspen, and today I would like to share with you all some of the new and exciting beauty products for this upcoming summer season!

Summer has officially begun, and the increasing temperatures are keeping my beauty regime to the bare minimum, enough to keep myself looking (and smelling!) alright. Because the heat will melt off any heavy makeup right off my face, I like to stick to the basics when it comes to my makeup: BB cream, cream eye shadow, waterproof mascara and tinted lip balm. With these few products, you will still look good and put together while staying on budget and melt-proof, without the clutter of many products!

With every new season, makeup brands tend to put out new collections of their latest stuff, attracting all lovers of beauty to the drugstores and major department stores. Some of these products may have been released already where you are from, but I haven’t come across any of the following products in store quite yet.

Without further ado, here are some of the new and exciting beauty products that you might come across this 2014 summer season!

Step 1: Smooth your skin with a BB Cream to gain color, coverage, and protection from the sun.

maybellinepuredream
Dream Pure BB Cream by Maybelline, $7.99

Buy here: http://www.maybelline.com

The BB Cream that I recommend is the Dream Pure BB Cream by Maybelline because it will cover up your imperfections, clear acne, cover up redness, smooth and hydrate your face, adjust to your skin tone, minimize pores, help to clear your skin, all while being oil-free and lightweight.

Although this product claims to cover up your imperfections and redness, do not bet your money on your skin being perfectly blemish-free after using this product, because it is so light and thin in consistency.

If you are happy with your skin, this product will enhance your skin’s appearance and hide any little blemishes, such as light scars on your face. On the other hand, if you struggle with acne and are not very secure with your skin, I would not recommend this product because you might not receive the amount of coverage that you want.

Step 2: Use a waterproof cream eyeshadow to provide color to your eyes and enhance your natural features.

eyeko
Me & My Shadow by Eyeko London, $19.00

Buy here: http://www.eyeko.com/

This dual-ended Eyeko Me & My Shadow (shown in taupe) provides a natural color to your eyelids while remaining water and crease proof. The brush on the end of the product allows for blending of the shadow without using any brushes or getting your fingers dirty, making this product also quick & handy to use while on the go. The waterproof formula will also last on your eyes until you take it off at the end of the day, lasting through heat and water, making it perfect for a day at the pool.

As well as being a gorgeous shadow, this product can also act as a primer for other similarly-colored eyeshadows and eyeliner. To apply as a primer, rub and blend the shadow onto your eyelids, wait a few seconds for the shadow to dry a little and become tacky, and continue on with your chosen eye look!

If you have trouble with thin eyelids and want to cover up any veins that show through, this product will cover up any thing that you don’t want exposed while providing a nice color as well:)

Step 3: Coat your eyelashes with a waterproof mascara to keep black smears from occurring, even through tears, sweat, and pool water.

450
Revlon Bold Laquer Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black, $7.99

Buy here: http://www.revlon.com/

This recently-released waterproof mascara from Revlon claims to do it all: lengthen your eyelashes, make your lashes an intense black color, and keep your eyelashes waterproof to prevent “raccoon-eyes” from happening the second you encounter moisture. Revlon’s new mascara will also give that added “oomph” that a non-waterproof mascara will, making it the perfect mascara for the summertime.

Because waterproof mascaras tend to be slightly wetter in formula than their non-waterproof cousins, it is best to wait for a second or two to let the mascara settle onto your lashes before blinking or looking down. By waiting a few seconds for the mascara to dry, you prevent the chance of having unwanted mascara smears on your brow bone, which are difficult to remove with water because the mascara is waterproof.

If you have thin or short eyelashes, this mascara will lengthen and strengthen your precious lashes and can actually help your lashes grow over time. On the other hand, if you already have long and luscious eyelashes, this mascara will intensify your eye look to new heights.

Step 4: To help stay on budget and clutter-free, use a creamy tint to give a glow to both your cheeks and lips.

korres-pomegranate-lip-butter-d-2012032505565308~166985
Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate, $12.00

Buy here: http://www.korres.com/

The weightless texture of this lip butter will bring a sheer layer of color to your lips as well as to your cheekbones. The sheer coral shade of this product is flattering on nearly every skin tone, from pale to ebony, making it the perfect universal hue. I’ve discovered through using this product that it gifts a dewy hint of color to your cheeks, which is perfect for the summer.

To use on your lips, I’ll first exfoliate my lips to get rid of any dead or dry skin, using the Mint Julip lip scrub from Lush. I will then wash off the scrub and dry off to ensure that the lip butter will hold onto my lips. I will then apply the lip butter with my fingers and blend it out.

To use on your cheeks, dot three light dots onto the apples of your cheeks, blending from the bottoms of your cheek bones and outwards towards the tops of your ears. Use a light hand when applying this product because it can get quite easy to look like a clown and apply too much makeup.

In addition to providing color, this butter will also provide moisture to your lips & cheeks, proving itself different from other products that may give off a stunning color but no moisture. Because this color is so sheer, you can apply this product as regularly as you would a lip balm without accidentally overpowering your lips like a lipstick can.

Step 5: In regards to hair, a simple salt spray will do the trick to achieve perfect, tumbly, beachy waves.

josie maran
Josie Maran Bohemian Waves Argan Hair Mist, $22.00

Buy here: http://www.josiemarancosmetics.com/

From Josie Maran comes this new spray that will make you feel like a mermaid with beachy waves while providing your hair with moisture due to the included argan oil. Most sea salt sprays don’t include any kind of nourishing oil which is why those sprays will often leave your hair feeling dry, crunchy, and just plain gross. The argan oil in this product will prevent just that, giving your hair a soft, touchable feel while also giving great style.

The fantastic aspect of this product is how easy and quick it is to use: For a fast style, you can spray & scrunch the product into either wet or dry hair and let your locks air-dry. Your hair will dry into irresistibly messy waves with a lovely scent.

For more defined waves, you can spray & scrunch this product into wet hair and dry with a diffuser-fitted hairdryer.  The final effect of this method will include perfectly defined waves and a silky texture to your hair.

Because summer is the hottest season of the year, nobody really wants to do their hair unless they are going out to somewhere important, making this product perfect for lazy girls who still want to look fabulous without the effort.

Leave a comment down below telling me what you are most excited for this summer, and I hoped you liked tonight’s post!

Have a beautiful night, Aspen:)
